本研究は、アメリカ独立からフランス革命を経て第一次選挙法改革へと至る「改革時代」のイギリスにおいて、政治社会を安定させて人々の幸福を増大するという目標の下、農業、科学、フィランソロピーが結びつくユニークな「トライアド＝三つ組」が現れたことの意味を考える。専門分科が進んだ現在から見ると、結びつきを想定し難い三者が、どのような状況下で関連度を高めたのかを明らかにし、それが当時のヨーロッパで知識伝達や社会改良、さらには国家運営をめぐる議論の場で一定の存在感を保持したことを示す。具体的には次の手順で研究に取り組んでいる。①先行研究の検討を通じて「農業、科学、フィランソロピーのトライアド」に関する歴史的研究を進めるための新たな分析視角を構築する。②内外の研究者と意見交換の場を持つ。③三つの事例研究を通して上記トライアドの実態解明（史料研究）に取り組む。これまでのところ、このうちの①と③を中心に研究を進めてきた。②に関しては、パンデミックの影響で、研究開始以来メール等による限定的な情報交換に留まってきた。22年度は3月後半にようやく約10日間のイギリス出張を実施することが出来た。この際に、Joanna Innes氏と直接面談する機会を持った。氏が進めているRe-imaging democracy projectの内情と今後の予定など、本研究に深く関係する有益な情報を得ることが出来た。①と③は昨年度から進めている研究活動を継続した。①：関連二次文献の調査収集。これを通じて研究の全般的背景を確認し、先行研究との関係をさらに明確にした。③：史料データベースを利用し、電子化された当時のパンフレット等を調査（主に農業委員会関連）。なお、当初計画にあった英国の図書館等での調査は3月末の出張期間だけでは十分に進めるに至らなかった。次年度に継続する予定である。

This study examines the implications of the first electoral law reform from the time of independence to the time of reform, political and social stability, and the increase in human happiness under the conditions of purpose, agriculture, science, and social stability.
