项目摘要

本研究では、アメリカを主に発達したプロセス考古学と、伝統的な日本考古学との間にある、方法論的、理論的な大きな差異を軽減し、世界でも高水準にある日本考古学の発掘調査および資料分析法を、世界の歴史理論および人類学理論のなかに、的確に位置付けていくことを目指し、今年度も基礎的分析を中心に進めた。両国の学史的な検討を進め、理論的差異が顕在化するテーマを探求し、先史時代の中でも、まず後期旧石器時代の東北地方の遺跡内容を取り上げて、人間集団の適応戦略という観点から再検討し、論文を発表した。東北地方の旧石器研究をプロセス考古学の理論で捉え直し、ビンフォードによる狩猟採集民の民族考古学理論の枠組みで分析した。宮城県・山形県の石刃石器群の文化は、コレクター型の適応戦略から理解可能であることを、仮説的に提示した。通時的な両国理論の比較では、史的唯物論に対するプロセス考古学の新進化主義人類学および経済人類学の対比が有効との認識を得て、旧石器・縄文・弥生・古墳・古代の各時期に関してプロセス考古学の観点から再検討を始めた。成果の一部は、研究代表者の本務である東北歴史博物館館長講座において、「読む館長講座」として、同館HPでPDF化（オープンアクセス）し、広く問いかけており反響もある。狩猟採集から農耕への変動プロセス、弥生首長制社会の仮説ほかを検討している。また本研究の二つの柱である、ビンフォード理論の詳細の正確な日本語による理解、東北大学の考古学研究史アーカイブについては、進行途上である。
