本研究の目的は、日本において高等学校教育への文化人類学の導入を実現するための基礎的な研究をおこなうことである。特に、どのような内容を導入すべきか、また、どのような方法で導入すべきかを総合的に研究することである。その目的のために、日本における文化人類学と高等学校教育の関係と、欧州における先進事例の成功・不成功要因の把握および分析をおこなう。最終的には、日本において高等学校教育への文化人類学の導入を実現するための課題を明らかにすること、実行可能な提言をまとめること、そして、人的ネットワークを構築することを目指す。当初の計画では、まず、日本における文化人類学と高等学校教育の関係を把握・分析するために大学関係者と高等学校関係者を対象とした2つのアンケート調査を実施し、その次に、2022年度から施行予定の新学習指導要領における地理歴史科および公民科の全8科目を対象とした教科書調査を実施することにしていた。しかし、上述のアンケートの作成を進めるなかで、2022年度以前に大学および高等学校で使われてきた文化人類学に関連する教科書の内容等の変遷を把握・分析することが先決であるとの認識に至った。したがって、本年度（2022年度）においては、文献調査を通じてその把握・分析に注力した。これによって得られた知見は、上述の2つのアンケートの質問項目の充実化および文化人類学関連教科書の通時的な分析に活かされることが期待される。
