本研究の目的は、国際貿易レジームの相違や各国の政治経済制度の相違を考慮しながら、大国（米国と中国）間の貿易戦争が、日本のような第三国の国内政治や政府の政治的支持関数に及ぼす影響について明らかにすることである。本年度は、昨年度に引き続き、理論的分析と実証的分析に関して以下のような点について検討した。第1に、理論的な分析については以下のような貿易戦争のモデルの構築を試みた。貿易戦争に参加しない日本のような第三国への貿易効果、特に最適関税率による間接的な貿易効果を理論的に分析できるような貿易戦争の3国モデルの構築である。このような貿易戦争のモデル構築において、特に注意したのは、従来の2国間の貿易戦争のモデルを2レベルゲームの枠組みで政治経済的に非対称な3国間の貿易戦争のモデルに拡張することである。政治経済的な非対称性で注目したのは、3国間の国内経済の非対称性と国内政治の非対称性である。これらの政治経済的な非対称性が各国の政治的支持関数に及ぼす影響を分析できるような3国間の貿易戦争のモデルの構築について検討した。第2に、実証的な分析については、貿易戦争が日本のような第三国の国内政治や政府の政治的支持関数に及ぼす影響を観察することができるデータの収集である。特に、政治的支持関数に及ぼす影響を実証的に検討するために、各国のマクロの政治経済データを収集した。しかし各国のマクロの政治経済の既存のデータについては、この研究目的に沿った相応しいデータを入手することはかなり困難であることが判明してきた。
