本年度は昨年度までの研究の蓄積の上に立って、在日コリアンの自殺予防対策の一環として、在日コリアンで精神障害をもつ人びと、またこれまで自殺念慮を持った経験や自殺企図の経験を持つ人々を対象とする自助グループの開設におもな精力を注いだ。2021年に筆者がおこなった165名の在日コリアンからのアンケート調査において、「在日コリアンのメンタルヘルスについてどのようなことが求められるか？」の問いに対して、「自助グループの必要性」が多数を占めた。在日コリアンで自殺念慮/企図の経験者、精神疾患を持つ人々は日本社会で孤立しており、「在日」どうしのつながりを求めていることが浮き彫りになった。そこで筆者は既存の自助グループのなかで趣旨を理解していただき、自助グループへの参加視察をさせていただけるところを探し、福岡県の自助グループに参加視察を2023年1月から始めた。そのなかで自助グループの意義や運営の仕方を研究したいと考えている。そして2023年3月から月に1回のペースで、ZOOMを使ったオンラインによる「コリアンルーツ・メンタルヘルス・セルフヘルプグループ」を開始した。初回は計4名、2回目は6名が参加した。また、この活動をはじめるにあたっては2023年2月7日のデジタル朝日新聞、朝日新聞夕刊に筆者のインタビューとともに記事が掲載された。また在日韓国人団体の機関誌「民団新聞」にも記事が2023年1月23日号に掲載された。参加者の中には、精神障害者の他の自助グループに参加している人もいるが、そうした場では自身が在日コリアンであることを言っていない人も多い。自身の素の姿を出すことによって交流することのできる自助グループの場でも、それをすることができない在日コリアン精神障害者の現状がある。そうした現状に鑑み、この「コリアンルーツ・メンタルヘルス・セルフヘルプグループ」の意義は大きいと考えられる。
