本研究の検討対象時期は日本の戦国・織豊期であるが、福祉の概念が無いため、まずは前提となる福祉にかかわる事例を抽出・集積する作業を行うことを課題としている。方法論の面では、事例の少なさを克服する試みであり、具体的に原本が残る日記から探る。しかし、当該年度もコロナの流行の影響等もあり、原本史料の閲覧が思うに任せず、原本の閲覧以外の手段を考え、史料の記述内容についての検討も進めている。日記の記事から、福祉的な要素を導き出すことに重点を置き、福祉的要素の抽出方法の１つを提示した、前年にまとめた論文「前近代の福祉の視点を求めて―中近世移行期の日記の検討から―」が刊行となった（大嶌聖子「前近代の福祉の視点を求めて―中世移行期の日記から」社会事業史学会創立50周年記念論文集刊行委員会(編集)『創立50周年記念論文集　戦後社会福祉の歴史研究と方法―継承・展開・創造』第1巻〈思想・海外〉　近現代資料刊行会）。歴史学では頻繁に使用されてきた日記史料の記事を福祉的にどのように読み替えるか、福祉的な事例をどのように抽出し福祉史に活用していくか、具体的な方法の提示を進めている。家忠の活動のなかの「福祉」的な要素には、仏教的な事柄が色濃く含まれていることが指摘できるが、記主の立場は、仏教を受容する側であり、いわば福祉を受ける側の視点からの事例を抽出できたといえる。当初予定であった原本から得られた情報のデータ化を始め、日常性・非日常性という視点から福祉にかかわる事例を抽出・集積する作業を進め始めている。
