项目摘要

本研究では西アフリカのシエラレオネの職業訓練校で，布を用いた製品を製作している青少年たちの技能向上のための教材開発をすることを通じて，家庭科教員養成課程に所属する学生たちが，家庭科教員としての教材研究力と，衣生活教育の実践力を習得することを構想している。そのためにまず，家庭科教員養成課程に所属している学生がシエラレオネという国をどの程度理解しているのか，世界情勢に対する認識と理解の現状を捉えた。調査後にシエラレオネで縫製技能を学んでいる職業訓練校の生徒たちの現状を説明し，家庭科教員養成課程で学ぶ内容を，教育学部学生としてどのように活用すればいいか考えさせる機会を設け，教材構成力の資質向上に向けた取り組みを継続的に行っている。学生たちの多くは，シエラレオネという国の存在すら知らないものがほとんどであり，支援の方法の具体を尋ねても医療支援や食糧支援しか，支援の方法が発想できなかった。しかし自立するための技能として縫製技能や情報教育などの職業訓練が行われていることなど，事前調査で得た情報を提示すると，自分たちがどのような方法で発展途上国への支援ができるか，国際共生社会を生きる世代，教員養成課程所属という立場を再認識し，自分たち自身の学びの意義の理解を深めることができた。その学生たちの変容について，2022年8月にアトランタで開催された国際家政学会において，ポスタープレゼンテーションによる発表を行った。討議では今後の研究の展開を聞かれ，コロナ終息後，現地での教育実践に対する期待を感じることができた。
