新聞紙の素材に着眼し、その有効性について「新聞紙遊び」の観点から特に親子関係に着目して研究を遂行している。。身近な素材の新聞紙が、保育現場や家庭において、柔軟性および発展性のある素材としてまたSDG'Sとしての観点からも有効であると考え、その有効性について具体的に整理している。今年度前期は、保育現場における新聞紙遊びの実際に焦点を当て、新聞紙を使用した「遊びの種類」に加え保育者の意図的な「環境構成」と「子どもの主体的な遊び」との関係性について探った。令和4年8月～12月までの期間にWEBアンケートを実施し、全国の保育関係者72名から得た回答を元に分析を行なった。分析方法として全ての自由記述から乳幼児の動作、遊びの種類、保育者のねらいや意図が読み取れる語彙を抽出し、保育所保育指針に基づき精査、考察を行なった。集計データを元にテキストマイニングを行ない、子どもの動作を表す出現頻度の多い語彙について確認し、前述の考察と照らし合わせた。結果、保育者が素材の特徴を理解し、意識して子どもたちに提供していること、さらには保育所保育指針の保育内容と子どもの発達過程に応じた遊びを考えながら取り入れていることや、子どもが自ら素材に関わりたくなるような保育の方法や内容も示唆された。後期は、この結果を基に、検討課題Ⅱ「新聞紙遊びの提案」に移り、目的とする「乳幼児の発達や大人との関係性を支援するのに有効な新聞紙遊びの提案」についてとりかかった。大人と乳幼児が一緒に実施する遊びは多々あるが、保育所のような集団での遊びではなく、家庭において身近な素材の新聞紙が親子関係にどのような影響を及ぼすかについて1組の親子の遊びの記録をもとに検証していく予定である。
