令和4年度は、新制大学の前提となる旧制大学の実態について、石田雅春「広島文理科大学・広島高等師範学校における歴史学」（小澤実・佐藤雄基編『史学科の比較史』〈勉生出版、令和4年5月〉所収）として公表した。旧制大学の研究については、帝国大学に比して官立大学に関するものが少ない。そこで広島文理科大学を分析対象として、研究者の養成や教育の実態を明らかにした。新制大学において、旧制のさまざまなタイプの高等教育機関を「大学」として一括したことが、のちに問題を引き起こしたと考えられている。こうした旧制と新制の連続と非連続を分析する上で、本研究のような旧制度の実態把握は重要な意味と持つと考える。また、新制大学については、国立大学法人化についてインタビューを行うとともに、報告書の原稿をまとめた。国立大学法人化については、最近のできごとであるため、政策面での分析は行われているものの、大学内の当事者の証言は十分に蓄積されていない。インタビューでは文部科学省の政策に対する大学の受け止めや対応、法人化後の学内情勢など、今後の研究において基礎資料となる証言を得ることができた。しかし最終的な一般公表について証言者の許諾が得られなかった。このため次年度の公表に向けて引き続き証言者との間で調整を行う。
