Study abroad and improved physician empathy in medical students

In the previous year, we obtained ethical research approval from the Research Ethics Committee, School of Medicine, Showa University, and used that year’s data as a pilot study to evaluate the study design, scales used to measure physician empathy and the patient scenarios that we created for the medical interview with standardized patients. In 2022, we started the full version of the study and are currently collecting data from participants.
