研究期間の2年目となる本年度は、初年度に引き続き米国留学者・視察者等の教育・視察内容の調査によって、基本的事実の把握に取り組んだ。なお、所属機関業務により半年間の在外研修に従事したため、予定した調査を全て実施することはできなかったが、現地調査に向けて現地機関に連絡をとるなど調査の準備をおこなうとともに、文献史料からの分析を進めた。米国留学経験・滞在経験のある日本人建築家の事例については、特に下田菊太郎（1866-1931）について調査を実施した。下田に関してはこれまでも研究があるものの基本的には自叙伝の記述に依っており、実際の現地での活動については不確かな点が多かったため、現地史料の発掘と分析を重点的に進めた。その結果、現地新聞の報道から自叙伝の記述を資料的に裏付けることができたものがある。さらに、現地新聞で公表された下田の東京駅設計案の内容を明らかにできた。これは日本国内で具体的な駅舎設計が着手される以前のものであり、東京駅の歴史を考えるうえでも興味深い事実である。加えて、その制作と公表の背景からは日米交流に果たした在米日本人建築家の役割の重要さが窺える。前年度から継続して、ボザール・インスティチュート・オブ・デザイン（Beaux-Arts Institute of Design）関連の公開課題についてのデータベース化を進めた。データベース化が済んだ課題については統計的な分析をおこなうことで、BAID課題の拡大状況を定量的に把握することができた。これらの成果は日本建築学会で発表予定である。
