本研究の目的は、前向き多施設共同研究として、リンパ節転移陽性原発乳癌患者における腋窩リンパ節郭清により高頻度に起こる生活の質を著しく低下させる合 併症を回避するために、より低侵襲な縮小手術を確立させることである。腋窩リンパ節転移陽性エストロゲンレセプタ ー (ER)陰性原発乳がん患者で術前化学療 法後に臨床的リンパ節転移陰性と診断された症例を 対象とする。診断時にクリップを留置した転移陽性リンパ節とセンチネルリンパ節生検のみの縮小手術によ る正確性と安全性及び予後を前向き多施設共同研究として検証する。本研究を行うことで、現在の標準治療である腋窩リンパ節郭清が低侵襲の縮小手術に置き換 えられる可能性が高まり、患者にとって身体的、及び精神的にも非常に有益となる。現在、リクルート中である。 これまで、日本臨床外科学会総会パネルディスカッション、日本乳癌学会総会などで、本臨床試験の背景と意義、今後の展望について発表してきた。長崎市臨床外科医会の招待講演でも、現在の乳がん治療の標準治療から低侵襲の縮小手術を目指す世界の傾向、及び本臨床試験の意義などを報告した。令和５年度も、日本乳癌学会学術総会シンポジウムで進捗状況を報告予定である。

The annual report on the progress of the academic Society of Breast Cancer of Japan and the Institute of Breast Cancer of Japan is scheduled to be published in 2005.
