Medical crowdfunding, Crowdfunding（以下CFとする）, Ethicsなどのキーワードで文献調査を継続した。主な課題として、不平等が生じること、患者本人の自律的な意思決定が阻害される恐れがあること、科学に確立されていない治療へのアクセスを助長すること、患者や家族のプライバシー侵害につながる恐れがあることなどが指摘された。国外の文献の特徴として、「個人」の治療に関連する検討が目立つことが指摘できる。すなわち、個人の治療費をCFで集めること（personal campaignなどと分類されていることがある）が広く行われている様子がうかがえた。他方、現時点では、国内のCFプラットフォームでは個人の治療費を集めるプロジェクトはあまり見当たらず、海外渡航移植の募金窓口としてCFが用いられている程度である。国ごとの医療制度の違いなどを考慮すると一概に比較することは困難だが、背景の一つとして、国内外のCFの利用規約やガイドラインを調査した（継続中）。これらの中には、プロジェクトの目的の妥当性の審査があることを定めるものや、「禁止プロジェクト」を設けているものもあった。また、特定の個人に偏りすぎるプロジェクトや個人の治療費を集めるプロジェクトを掲載する際には別途条件を課すことがあるなどの規定を設けているプラットフォームもあった。また、近年では、医学研究をはじめとする様々な研究の研究資金をCF経由で調達する例も見られ、研究者の研究資金調達に特化したCFプラットフォームもある。研究の科学的妥当性をどう担保するか、優先順位をどう考えるかといった点がCFを介した支援者に託されているかについて今後引き続きの検討が必要であろう。
