フットケアの基本は清潔・保湿である。しかし寝たきりで入浴が困難であったりベッド上での足浴も難しい患者も少なくない。そのため本研究では従来型の足浴よりも手軽に実施でき、かつ清潔・保湿効果もあるシャボンラッピングの手法を確立することを目的とする。22年度は第2段階として、第1段階で割り出した水と液体石鹸の適正な混合比で作成した十分な泡立ちのシャボンラッピングを用い、健常な被験者13名に対してその前後の下肢の皮膚の水分量の変化と洗浄効果を確認した。皮膚の水分量の変化に関しては同一被験者に対し1～2日おきに2週間、シャボンラッピングと温タオル清拭を左右の下肢にそれぞれ実施し、保湿目的のワセリンを塗布した。比較には下肢4カ所（足背・足底・内踝・外踝）の水分量を皮膚用の水分計で測定しその数値を用いた。また洗浄効果については、手洗い確認用の蛍光塗料入りローションを下肢に塗布し、シャボンラッピング法と温タオル清拭の実施前後でどの程度ローションが除去されているか比較した。さらに被験者にこのフットケアの快適さなども評価してもらい、洗浄・保湿効果もあり快適なシャボンラッピング法の確立を目指した。結果として水分量に関してはシャボンラッピングおよび温タオル清拭の実施前後で大きな差は認められなかった。これは被験者が自宅でほぼ毎日入浴もしていたことから、下肢の水分量が保持されていたたためと思われた。しかし被験者の主観的感想として「足がきれいになった」「すべすべになった」「臭いが気にならなくなった」という意見が複数寄せられたことから一定の洗浄効果はみられていることが伺えた。蛍光塗料入りローションを用いて比較した洗浄効果に関しては、明らかにシャボンラッピングの方が温タオル清拭のみに比べローション除去率が高かった。さらに被験者のシャボンラッピングに対する快適さの評価は温タオル清拭のみより有意に高かった。
