本研究は、小児期から成人期に移行する時期にいる重症児の両親が、成人移行における体験やおこりうる困難に対してどのように対処をしているのかを明らかにすることで、成人移行に対する両親への看護実践を提案をすることができ、今後増加する成人を迎える重症児の家族への支援に寄与できることを目的としている。令和3年度においては、成人移行期にある重症児とその家族がおかれている実態に着目を行い、文献検討を行っている。成人移行するにつれて、重症児の二次障害の出現、徐々に低下する機能による高度な医療的ケアの必要が必要となること、また、社会制度からの変更により、今まで使用できていた社会資源が使用できなくなることによる両親の介護負担の増大、介護する両親の高齢化等の問題があることが考えられるため、令和3年度においては、小児期にある重症児の両親へのフィールドワークを行い、今現在、将来に対して考えていることや現在成人期になるために準備を行っていることなどについての実態の把握を行うことで、本研究の研究計画書の作成やインタビューガイドの作成を行っていく予定であったが、新型コロナウィルスの蔓延の影響で実施できていない状況である。しかし、重症心身障害児・者を対象とした看護を行う施設スタッフとの勉強会を実施し、医療者側から考える現在小児期にある重症児が成人となった場合の実態について意見交換を実施した。令和４年度は、研究中断をしており研究実績はない。
