本研究の目的は、第一に認知症のスクリーニングアプリの運用方法を確立することであり、第二には、次世代の人材育成プログラムを作成することである。認知症にかかわる次世代の人材教育プログラムを、地域の関連する施設や機関等との協同において明らかにするとも言い換えられるが、この間のCovid-19による感染症の拡大とそれに対する国を挙げての感染症対策の取り組みの中、この研究内容を実施することについては、自粛や制限をする必要性があり、残念ながら研究成果として実績を残すことができない状況が継続してきた。しかし、自粛や制限が必要な状況下であっても学生ボランティアによる豊かな認知症にかかわる啓蒙活動は停めてはならないことである。この間、感染対策を実施し、時々の感染者数の動向などを考慮しつ感染リスクの判断をして、できる限りの活動が実施できるようにこの学生ボランティアの活動を支援してきた。また、この学生のボランティア活動での生き生きと活躍する学生らを支援して育成することは、自粛や制限がなくなった後の活動に大きな意味を持っており、この間、研究成果としての実績は残せなかったことにはなるが、このコロナ禍の活動が重要であったとの認識にたっている。2023年5月8日に「感染症の予防及び感染症の患者に対する医療に関する法律」上の位置づけについて、2類相当から5類への類下げが実施されたため、これまでの活動実践の上に、変化してきた実情に即した内容に対応しながら研究を実施する。
