本研究は、「文検」體操科の全体像を明らかにすることを目的としている。具体的には、制度の開始（1885＝明治18年）から終焉（1949＝昭和24年）までの全期間を対象に、「文検」體操科に関わる、試験委員、試験問題、受験者等について解明しようとするものである。令和４年度においては、当初（令和3年～令和4年）より計画を立てていた、１．「文検」體操科の試験委員の分析（試験委員の確定、試験委員著作の収集と分析、受験雑誌に掲載された試験委員の言説の分析）２．「文検」體操科受験者の分析（受験動機の分析、受験者のキャリア分析、受験勉強の内容及び方法についての分析、合格後の進路分析）を、昨年に引き続き継続して行った。１．試験委員の分析については、試験委員の著作リストを作成するため、体育学関係の雑誌論文などを収集し、試験委員の確定並びに試験委員著作の収集と分析、受験雑誌に掲載された試験委員の言説の分析等一定の作業を終えることができた。２．受験者の分析については、「文検」受験用雑誌である『文検世界』『文検受験生』『内外教育評論』 を閲覧し分析を進めている。令和3年度に続き、令和4年度も新型コロナウイルス感染症が終息せず、まん延防止法等の発令により資料収集のため現地への出張が難しい状況であった。３誌とも神戸大学にほぼ整備されているので作業が順調に進むと考えていたが、感染症対策により、他大学図書館への出入りが難しく、飛躍的に分析が進んだとは言い難い。この点に関しては、令和5年度、感染症の動向を見ながら、研究を進めることができればと考えている。
