2022年1月より研究を開始、2023年1月よりオーストラリアに渡航し、本格的に研究を開始した。これまでラオス国において保健職員に対する周産期や新生児ケアのトレーニングを実施してきたが、トレーニング直後の知識や技術が向上しても、その維持や臨床への適応に課題があった。申請者が2017－2019年に実施した郡病院における質改善活動では、通常の新生児ケアの知識や技術の維持にはある程度効果があったが、出生時無呼吸の児に対する蘇生技術の維持は困難であった。蘇生を含む緊急時のケアは、瞬時の判断と実施が求められ、普段からの訓練が必要であると考えられる。しかし、ラオスにおいては悪路によるアクセスの問題や人材・金銭面の不足により、定期的にトレーニングを実施することは困難であった。そこで、郡病院の保健職員に継続的な新生児蘇生の練習を促し、モバイル端末による遠隔モニタリングとフィードバックにより、蘇生技術の継続的な向上を図ることとした。実施プログラムの設計に当たり、まずは保健職員のトレーニングに用いることが可能なデジタル機器を全て把握するため、2022年5月よりスコーピングレビューを開始した。レビューでは77本の論文を解析し、高所得国、低中所得国でそれぞれよく用いられるデジタル機器、その教育および健康アウトカムに対する効果、必要な資源などを整理した。結果はまとめて論文にし、現在投稿中である。スコーピングレビューの結果を、遠隔トレーニングプログラムの設計に反映し、パイロット研究のプロトコールを作成した。倫理審査が通り次第、ラオス国郡病院においてパイロット研究実施予定である（2023年9月頃の予定）。本研究結果は、新生児蘇生のみならず、緊急産科ケアなど緊急時ケアに応用できると期待される。
