本研究は、１歳半までの子育て期にある母親のヘルスリテラシーの獲得過程について明らかにすることを目的としている。2022年度は、複線経路等至性モデルを用い、母親のヘルスリテラシーの獲得過程を質的に明らかにした。市町村経由のチラシ配布およびタウン誌広告にて、研究協力者募集を行い、21名から協力が得られた。インタビューはオンラインと対面で実施した。子育てに関するヘルスリテラシーの獲得は、妊娠期より始まっていた。妊娠期、出産後1か月ぐらいまでの子育て期、それ以降の子育て期によって情報の活用に違いが認められた。妊娠期は、妊娠中の子どもの子育てについて情報が入り、関心を寄せ始める時期である。しかし、主たる関心は妊娠であり、子育てについては、その状況を確認している程度であった。家族、友だち、職場の知人から何気に入ってくる情報、それらをきっかけにネットなどで情報を確認していた。それを通して、漠然とながらも子育てをイメージしたり、子育ての準備の一部を始めていた。出産後、出産施設、行政から多くの情報を受け取っていたが、これらの情報を吟味する時間をとることは難しく、子どもの世話に追われていた。行政等からの情報を見ることも、新たな情報を収集することもできない状況であった。必死に子育てする中で、健診や家庭訪問によって、順調に子育てができている承認を得ることで、一息つき、これからを見渡す余裕ができ始めるようになっていた。そのことで目的をもって情報収集を始めていた。情報を収集し課題や疑問を解決する中で、母親自身の技量や自分の子どもにあった情報の活用方法を獲得していた。しかし、子どもに合うように情報を活用できないことの多い母親もいた。そこには、周囲の支援や自分の経験知を活用できるかが影響していた。単に情報を提供するにとどまらず、個人の特性に合わせた情報の活用方法に関する支援の必要性が示唆された。
