2017年3月24日に策定された「第2期スポーツ基本計画」の柱の一つである「「する」「みる」「ささえる」スポーツ参画人口の拡大」に向けて作成された「スポーツ実施率向上のための行動計画について」（スポーツ審議会，2018）では，「成人の週1回以上のスポーツ実施率を65%程度」とする目標を掲げており，平成29年度調査では，スポーツ実施率が51.5%となっている．大学における体育実技授業（以下，「大学体育」）の生涯スポーツへの影響については，先行研究（中山ら，2014；木内ら，2005，2009など）より少なくないことが予想される．そこで，本研究では，大学体育を受講したものが，受講後だけでなく卒業後のステージも，「社会人基礎力」や「生涯スポーツ」に好影響を及ぼしているかどうかについて明らかにすることを目的とした．研究の実績として，1年目は，先行研究を参考に調査（アンケ―ト）内容を精査した．調査内容としては，経済産業省が作成した12の要素から成る「社会人基礎力を自己評価する項目」に加えて，「運動行動ステージ」（岡，2000），「運動自己効力感（岡，2003）」，「意思決定バランス」（岡ら，2002），「授業構成因子」（丸井ら，2011）の項目を設けた．さらに，「第2期スポーツ基本計画」に寄与できているかどうかを明らかにするために，運動の「する・みる・ささえる」に関する項目や「スポーツに親しめているかどうか」に関する項目を検討した．2年目は，共同研究者と相談しながら，1年目で検討した調査項目を精査し，かつその分析方法なども含めて協議をした．さらに，研究倫理審査書類を作成したり，卒業生調査を実施するWeb業者を検討したり，大学生調査の調査先を検討・調整したりした．
