2010年代以降、「断捨離」や片づけに関する書籍がベストセラーになるなど、人々とモノとの関わり方に変化がみられるようになった。東日本大震災以降の変化は顕著で、モノを極限まで減らした「ミニマリスト」と呼ばれる人々も出てきている。居住空間が片づいていると、作業効率が上がる、幸せ感が高くなることについては多くの研究されている。片づけを通じて、モノと向き合い、自分の価値基準を再確認することで、モノを買うことへの意識や行動に変化を感じる人が多いことも報告されているが、これらは自己報告に基づくものであり、定量的に検証されていない。本研究は、消費を構造的に転換する方策として「片づけ」と「シェアリング」に着目し、モノへの価値観・認知と購買行動の変化が与える影響について明らかにすることで、モノを大切に使い切る、廃棄物を最小限にする社会システムについて考察することを目的としている。首都圏（東京・埼玉・千葉・栃木・群馬・茨城）在住の男女20-69歳のうち、3か月以内に片づけをする予定がある人を対象に、片づけとモノに対する意識の変化や購買行動の変化について、インターネットを用いた質問紙調査を2022年6月と9月に行った。1回目の調査結果について、環境科学会にて口頭発表を行った。2回目の結果の含めた統計分析に取り組んだ。また、シェアリングとモノの所有意識をテーマにしたフォーカスグループインタビューの調査設計およびインタビューフローについて検討を進めた。
