2022年度も本研究課題が重視した中国での現地調査を実施することはできなかった。その理由は中国政府が推進したゼロコロナ政策による渡航制限および中国国内の政情不安である。後者は具体的には外国人研究者が中国国内で宗教問題や民族紛争に関する現地調査を行うことに危険を伴うことを意味する。したがって、研究課題を遂行することが困難な状況であったことは大いに悔やまれる。そこで、調査地域は国内を中心に設定し、現代中国の宗教状況を理解する上で関連のある調査を実施した。イスラーム関連では、12月に宮崎大学イスラーム文化研究交流棟にて留学生と地域ムスリムの交流活動について聴き取りを行った。仏教関連では、8月山陽郷土資料館（岡山県赤磐市）、8月浄瑠璃寺（京都府木津川市）、円成寺（奈良市）、9月天川村立資料館（奈良県天川村）、10月円通寺と恐山菩提寺（青森県むつ市）、川倉賽の河原地蔵尊（青森県五所川原市）、板柳町立郷土資料館（青森県板柳町）にて、中国仏教の日本伝播に関する資料収集を行った。キリスト教関連では、9月に長崎市外海歴史民俗資料館と伊王島ふるさと資料室（長崎市）にて、外来宗教の伝播と宗教弾圧政策について情報収集を行った。本研究開始後、初めて海外調査を実施したことは大きな収穫である。12月韓国の慶州と釜山にて、2月タイのチェンマイにて、在外華人の仏教とイスラームに関する宗教調査を行ったことにより、研究課題に進展が得られた。その他、雑誌「中国宗教」「中国ムスリム」「中国民族」「中国西蔵」に掲載された記事から、中国共産党の宗教政策、宗教事務管理、少数民族政策、宗教と和諧政策、中国共産党全国大会、イスラームマスジド（清真寺）、チベット仏教寺院、カトリック教会、プロテスタント教会、宗教の慈善活動に関する情報を収集し整理した。
