项目摘要

本研究は餌付けなどによる野生動物と人との接触関係を観光資源化することについて，その歴史，背景と課題を明らかにすることを目的としている。研究対象としては近世から現代に至るまでシカと人との関わりが観光資源として確立してきた奈良の鹿をとりあげ，また，人と鹿とが接触関係を持つ宮島, 金華山などの例と比較することで，奈良の鹿の観光資源化の特徴を明らかにする。本研究では，（1）来訪者の視点から近世以降の奈良のシカの観光対象化の過程の解明，（2）奈良の人の視点から奈良のシカの観光対象化の過程の解明，（3）宮島，金華山におけるシカと人との関係性の経過の解明，の3側面から研究を進めている。これまでの研究実績は，（1）については近世の道中日記で奈良への来訪者によって記述された来訪者と奈良のシカの関係について整理を行い，明治大正期に奈良を訪れた者による記録の収集をした。具体的には外国人を含めた紀行文を収集し記述，掲載されているシカに関する情報の整理を行い，「明治期における旅行者と奈良のシカの関係ー外国人旅行記の分析から」としてまとめた。（2）については近世近代の奈良に関する旅行案内書を網羅的に収集しシカに関する記述を抽出，整理した。奈良のシカの記述について近世と明治期以降第二次大戦前までの記述内容の傾向をすでにまとめている。（3）については，宮島，金華山のシカについて人との関係に関する資料の収集を行い，宮島については，近世以降の宮島のシカと人との関係とその野生生物観光における位置づけについてまとめた。また，金華山について国有林への影響と戦後のシカ捕獲状況の資料を中心に収集し，人との関係の経過をとりまとめている。
