本研究は、急激な人口構造の変動と産業構造の転換により存続の危機に直面する日本の農山村地域と「三農」問題解決を目指す中国の農村地域を対象に、住民が主体的に参与するCommunity -based Tourism(以下、CBTと記す)により、地域社会の持続的展開を可能にする実践モデルを、南京暁荘学院大学旅游与社会管理学院の研究チームとの共同研究で構築することを目的に企画された。この目的達成のため、「市民と行政の協働によるCBTは地域社会の持続的展開を可能にするか」との問いを立て、次の4つの課題を設定した。①「観光（ツーリズム）」概念の再構築と地域社会（農村）の持続的発展に適合的なツーリズムの在り方、②地域自律型観光開発への市民参画の方式の日中比較研究、③観光開発における市民と行政との協働関係の構築、④地域社会が内包する伝統的社会秩序（親族関係/宗族）と伝統的地域基盤（集落/社）の現代的機能の解明。申請当初の研究対象は、オーバーツーリズムへの農村観光の対応とその持続的発展であったが、初年度の新型コロナウィルス感染拡大により、研究の遂行はもとより研究対象であるツーリズムの在り方が世界的に大きく変化した。初年度、2年目と研究会を開催することも困難な状況であったが、文献研究と情報収集・整理に努め、昨年度からは制限ある中で研究会を開催して、研究全体の再構築を行った。CBTの実現モデルの構築という当初の問題意識に変更はないが、研究対象をポストコロナの時代のツーリズムの在り方に設定し、当初企画した量的調査から質的調査に変更することにした。今年度はこれまでの研究成果に基づき、中国側との共同研究を視野に入れて調査候補地を選定し予備調査の実施した。また一時は断念しかけた南京暁荘学院大学旅游与社会管理学院の研究プロジェクトとの共同研究の実施に向けて、継続的に情報交換に努めた。

This study is aimed at solving the problems of agriculture, rural areas and farmers in Japan, and community-based tourism in rural areas of China.(CBT note below).
