本研究の概要は、美術館の展覧会や国際現代美術展などで女性美術家が選ばれることが少なく、注目されにくい現況に対して、アジア各地で40代以降も継続して活動する女性美術家の存在を本研究を通じて調査研究し、広く紹介することである。しかしながら令和４年度もCOVID-19の流行が引き続き、所属する京都芸術大学では海外出張は禁止という措置が継続された。当初予定していた欧州とアジア各地（台湾、韓国、香港等）での調査も断念せざるを得なかった。しかし国内出張は秋以降、可能になったため、あいちトリエンナーレ調査を始め、熊本、金沢、兵庫等の美術館における女性アーティストをめぐる重要な展覧会の調査を実施することができた。科研費基盤研究（C)「東アジアの女性アーティストに見る地域と歴史の境界をめぐる研究」（2017－20年度）によって構築したウェブサイト「アジアの女性アーティスト：ジェンダー、歴史、境界」のデータベースに登録・公開する作業も継続して行った。この調査と登録は本科研も引継ぎ、延長した最終年度までに地域や年齢層も幅広く調査し、アジア女性アーティストの基礎的なデータベースとして一層充実させ、公開を続ける予定である。昨年度の新規登録は3件にとどまり停滞してしまったが、新しい項目として「インタビュー・座談会」というページを新たに作り、初回に沖縄の染織家にインタビューをすることができた。令和5年度には特にインタビューに焦点を絞って、研究分担者たちの協力を得て、4，5人のインタビューを実施し、公開する予定である。調査出張については、関東圏での女性アーティストの個展やグループ展にも引き続き可能な限り足を運び、可能な場合はアーティスト本人からも話を聞くなどして、その成果を印刷物やウェブサイトに公表した。
