项目摘要

2022年度は、これまでの研究を元にした発表・出版に加え、採択後に新しく研究を進めてきた領域に関する成果を残すことができた。１）ルイ・マクニースの作品について、2021年度の国際学会シンポジウムでの発表を元にした査読付き論文１本の出版と、1930年代アイルランド文学の国際学会での発表を行った。論文では、詩人としての自意識の問題と、昨今の社会事情から文学研究でも注目されている「病気」のテーマからマクニース詩の新たな読みの可能性を提示しただけでなく、身体的病と精神的病、他者の病と自身の病の境界線が曖昧な作品の特徴を指摘した。精神的な病に注目が集まった20世紀初頭の他の詩人の作品における病の描写や「自己」の認識の分析の一助となることも期待できる。学会発表では、マクニース作品のジャンル・形式について考える上で重要な散文作品の研究成果を発表した。これまでほとんど研究されてこなかった1930年代の小説や劇について、当時の思想的特徴とともに論じ、それらがマクニースの詩人像・詩論構築の場となっていることを明らかにした。２）研究テーマである「20世紀」の詩作品として、第一・二次世界大戦詩に研究の幅を広げてきた。その成果として、所属する研究会の10周年記念誌に、現代読者にとっての戦争詩に関する、文学研究者・一般読者双方に向け、専門性を損なわない形で分かりやすく執筆した評論を寄稿した。社会と文学についての一考察としても読める内容で、文学そのものの価値の考察にも貢献する文章を執筆することができた。また、これまで研究を進めてきた１ジャンルであるエレジーと、戦争詩の関係についても、国内学会シンポジウムのパネリストの一人として発表した。戦争詩人の戦間期の作品における戦争の繰り返しへの意識という問題からエレジーと戦争詩を関連づけ、戦争詩とエレジー研究両方に新しい視座を与えることができた。
