项目摘要

本研究は、20世紀前半フランスの劇作家ポール・クローデルが、ステファヌ・マラルメの舞踊思想をどのように捉えていたのかを、舞台制作の記録と日記から明らかにすることを目的にすすめてきた。マラルメは、その詩を演劇的に舞台上で上演することを目指しながらも、それを実現しえず、その演劇的表象の危機をのりこえた先に、受け手の視点から観る「まなざし」を意識し、精神的舞台を思考していく。その一方で、クローデルは、詩人でありながらも、劇作家として劇作品を上演し、実践という経験のなかで演劇を模索していくことができた。その成功の過程において、クローデルは、ある部分でマラルメの精神的舞台における演劇性を受け継ぎ、実現の可能性と不可能性の狭間を行き来した。その点をふまえると、クローデルの演劇作品の制作過程を追求する作業は、マラルメの思索した理想的演劇を浮かび上がらせる最も有力な手法であると考えられる。当該年度は分析対象として、マラルメが舞台化を試みた二作品に絞り、とくにマラルメが舞台で上演するために創作した『エロディアード』詩群ならびに未定稿詩篇における演劇性について考察をおこなった。また、演劇的形態を残した『半獣神独白』から『半獣神即興』を経て、『半獣神の午後』という純粋なる詩篇に至るまでの創作の過程を分析することによって、マラルメにおける演劇性の内在化の手法を析出した。そのうえで、この手法をクローデルがマラルメから受け継ぎ、それが、バレエ作品『男とその欲望』において実現というかたちで結実している点を指摘した。これにより、クローデルがマラルメにおいて不可能であった、詩を舞台化するという試みを、部分的にではあるが、実践において実現しえたのだという考察に至った。この点は、クローデルの他の作品においてさらに分析を深めていくべき問題として次年度に引き継ぐ。
