This past year the research has focused on two aspects: (1) state-level analysis of bilateral relations, mainly taking a case study of China's approach to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. A paper has been accepted to be presented at the International Political Science Conference in July. Comparative analysis of bilateral relations as officially defined by the two state leaders has been conducted. (2) state- and sub-state level analysis of bilateral relations. So far, mainly focusing on Russian-language resources, analysis analysis has been conducted to identify major issues between the two countries that might weaken bilateral relation.Analysis at the state level, mainly China's approach to war in Ukraine suggest that strategic objectives override any other obstacles in bilateral relations.
