In this project, for the dual-stator hybrid excitation Permanent Magnet vernier motor (DS-HEPMVM), the mechanism of torque generation and power factor improvement are analyzed, and the performance with different rotor structures (consequent-pole rotor and Halbach-rotor) are compared. Then the electromagnetic design and optimization of the two rotor structures of the 1kW vernier motor are conducted, and the torque contribution of the stator-PM, rotor-PM and field winding are analyzed, based on the frozen permeability method. Finally, a preliminary control system for a dual stator hybrid excitation vernier motor was established.This research can significantly improve the performance of the PMVM, and promote the practical application of the PMVM in direct drive applications.
