项目摘要

本研究は、瀬戸内海沿岸における祭りを対象とし、文化的空間の実態と形成メカニズムを地域との関係性から考察し、文化的空間の本質的価値や継承する上での課題と保護施策のあり方を考察することを目的とする。当該年度は、兵庫県・大阪府・岡山県・広島県・山口県の瀬戸内海に面した56市町の無形民俗文化財等の祭りについて、国・府県・市町の公開データ、および一部ヒアリングにより文化的空間の成立実態について調査を行った。その結果、抽出された祭りは341件となり、祭りの種類が18種に精査され、兵庫県から西山口県へ至るにしたがって、獅子舞、神輿・屋台、だんじり・山車が占める割合が減少し、舞・神楽、踊り・風流、行列の割合が増える傾向にあることや、大阪府は他県に比べ、念仏、厄除け・参詣、盆踊りなど仏教や大衆向けの年中行事の割合が高い特異な傾向があることが示された。さらに、文化的空間タイプは12タイプに分類され、祭りの種類同様に、兵庫県から山口県に至るにしたがい、神社境内や集落・御旅所を有するタイプが減少し、社殿内で完結するタイプが増加すること、大阪府が寺堂内、寺境内の割合が他県に比べて高い傾向にあることが示された。また、海との関係については、岡山県・広島県において水辺タイプがやや多く、島嶼などでの水軍や源平に由来する儀式との関連がみられた。これらのことから、文化的空間の成立実態として、祭りの種類に対応した空間タイプの地域的偏在性がみられること、都市的土地利用や地域の歴史的経緯に応じて屋外空間の文化的空間としてのポテンシャル評価が異なっている可能性が示唆された。
