本研究の目的は、在宅終末期高齢者が望む最期を迎えるための意思決定支援モデルを開発することである。目的達成のために、当初研究Ⅰ・Ⅱ・Ⅲの3段階の過程を経ることとしていた。研究Ⅰでは終末期高齢者が望む最期を迎えるための訪問看護師による意思決定支援の実態調査および意思決定支援モデル試案の作成を行う。研究Ⅱでは、研究Ⅰの結果をもとに、終末期高齢者が望む最期を迎えるための訪問看護師による意思決定支援モデル試案の妥当性を検討する。研究Ⅲでは、研究Ⅱの意思決定支援モデル試案の有効性を検証し、意思決定支援モデルを開発する。しかし、Covid-19による影響が大きく、さらに研究者の業務量増大に伴い研究進捗が遅れているため、これまで実施した研究結果をもとに、研究の方法を再検討した。その結果、研究目的に合わせ、研究Ⅰ・Ⅱの2段階で実施することに変更した。研究Ⅰは、令和３年度までに調査を終了しており、インタビュー調査をもとに、意思決定支援モデルの構成要素の内容を精選した。次に、モデル案作成にむけて分析作業および文献検討を行い、「在宅終末期高齢がん患者に対する訪問看護師による意思決定支援モデル案」を作成した。研究Ⅱでは、研究Ⅰで作成したモデル案をもとに、認定看護師および専門看護師で構成された専門家会議を開催した。専門家会議では、モデル案の妥当性および実用性の検討を行った。妥当性および実用性の観点から分析し、まとめた。
