本研究の目的は、①妊婦における鉄代謝調節因子「ヘプシジン」の状態を明らかにする、②鉄代謝状態（ヘプシジンの値）、鉄栄養状態、鉄摂取量の3者間の関連を検討するとともに、鉄代謝状態を調整したときの鉄栄養状態（貧血および鉄欠乏）と鉄摂取量の関係を検討することである。これにより妊婦に対する適切な鉄摂取について提案することを目指す。この達成に向け、妊婦を対象として採血検査および質問紙調査を実施し、ヘプシジンとその他鉄関連指標、鉄摂取量を把握することを計画した。2022年度には協力施設の決定、倫理審査委員会の承認を得て調査開始に向けた具体的な調整をすることができた。しかし新型コロナウィルス感染対策のための協力施設との調整、研究代表者が9月に異動したことも影響し調査の開始が遅れた。次年度のはじめに調査を開始する予定である。具体的な状況は次の通り。本研究は横断研究であり、つわりによる食事への影響が少なく、かつ状態の安定している妊娠中期の妊婦を調査対象者にすることとした。協力施設との調整により、妊婦健診の中期採血時に合わせて研究用の採血を付加的に行い、同日にWeb上での質問紙調査を実施することで具体的な対応の流れを調整した。また、主要アウトカムであるヘプシジンの測定が可能な臨床検査会社が決定し、調査実施時の具体的な調整を行っている。Web上の質問紙調査のフォーマット作成を完了し、タブレット端末での操作方法等の資料作成、動作確認を行うなど、調査開始に向けての準備が整いつつある。次年度のはじめには調査を開始し、鉄関連指標のデータおよび食事調査のデータが蓄積し次第、解析を進めていく。
