好意の形成に視線の動きが密接に関わる。しかし、好意を含む意思の表出が困難である認知症高齢者においても、好意と視線の動きが関連しているのかは明らかではなかった。認知症高齢者の意思・好意を読み取ることができれば、当該高齢者のQOLの維持・向上に繋がるため非常に重要である。そこで本課題では、認知症高齢者の選好判断中の視線の動きを計測し、視線と好意の関係が認知症罹患の有無に依らず普遍的であるか検討することを目的とした。２０２０年度は、高齢者施設で視線データの計測が可能となるよう、実験機器の準備を行った。持ち運び可能な視線計測器と制御機器を用いた実験デザインを確立することにより、学外施設でも認知症高齢者の視線データを計測可能な状態にまで至った。しかし、新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大防止の観点から対面で行う実験の実施は見送っている。また、心理学の関連領域における視線計測を用いた研究の最新動向を明らかにするため、レビュー論文を執筆した。レビュー論文では、心理学の周辺領域において用いられる様々な視線の指標や、視線の動きに影響を与える諸要因の整理を行った。さらに、視線計測を用いた研究の展開について議論し、認知症高齢者を含めた多世代を対象とした視線計測研究の可能性を指摘した。このレビュー論文は現在、国際誌において査読審査中である。本課題の研究成果は、認知症高齢者の意思を読み取るための足がかりになるとともに、視線計測を用いる研究に有用な指針を与えると考えられる。
