近年、我が国では高齢化社会の急進に伴うフレイル増加が深刻な社会問題となっており、その対策は喫緊の課題である。フレイル発生に関連する主な要因は、外出頻度の低さである。公共交通の不便な地域では高齢者の外出が抑制されると指摘されていることから、郊外や山間部を中心とした交通空白地帯でフレイルが多数発生することが懸念される。このことから近年、Information and Communication Technology(情報通信技術、以下ICT)を活用し公共交通を一元管理し提供する新たな交通システムMobility as a Service(以下、MaaS)が注目されている。しかし、これの活用にあたり必須となる高齢者のICT機器利用実態に関する詳細なエビデンスは乏しい。さらに、フレイル発生予防に向けたMaaS利用についての研究は皆無である。そこで本研究では、高齢者の健康とICT・公共交通利用状況の関連の検討を通じ、交通空白地域であっても高齢者がいきいきと生活できるためのMobility as a　Service(MaaS)活用に基づくフレイル予防策を示すことを目的として設定した。今年度は昨年度の研究成果を基に、ICT機器の利用状況および社会参加の状況が健康状態与える影響にに関する実証的研究を実施した。その結果、ICT機器を利用していること、経済状況が良好であることが高齢者の健康状態を高める可能性が再認された。
