项目摘要

◯本研究課題の初年度の取り組みとして、ふたつの研究対象地域のうち、アルメニア共和国における中世岩窟遺構について実地調査を行うとともに、現地研究協力者との研究打ち合わせを実施した。なお、新型コロナウィルス感染症の拡大により、当初予定していた2021年度での調査の実施は実現できず、2022年度へ繰り越しての調査となった。◯具体的には、主な調査対象であるゲガルド修道院における岩窟遺構について、2022年10月及び2023年3月にそれぞれ調査を実施した。同国における岩窟遺構の類例に関する調査については、隣国との軍事的緊張等により調査を見合わせるに至った遺構もあったが、現地での情報収集で新たに存在を確認できたものも含めて複数の遺構にて調査を行った。各遺構では、写真やビデオによる現況の記録のほか、レーザースキャナによる点群実測データを得るとともに、特にゲガルドでは、リーブ硬度計を用いた材料強度計測の試験的運用も行うなど、遺構の分析に必要な基礎的データの入手に努めた。◯上述の調査データに基づき、ゲガルドの遺構のうち、特に下階の礼拝室と上階のガヴィット（集会施設）について、石材を用いた一般的な構法による建築との比較を通じてその建築的特質を分析し、知悉された建築形態を援用しながら、岩窟を掘削して作る構法的利点を活かした形状の形成が行われている点を明らかにした。◯調査に際しては、アルメニア共和国文化省及びアルメニア使徒教会（エチミアジン）の協力を得た。エチミアジンでは同組織の現地研究協力者からの依頼を受け、修復中のカトギケ聖堂（世界遺産）の実測を行い、情報提供を行うとともに、研究協力体制の継続を確認した。なお、上記の調査成果の一部は、2022年度日本建築学会関東支部研究報告集等において報告されている。
