本研究の目的は，人工知能（AI）を使って高齢者の口腔内をOral Assessment Guide(OAG)の項目の口唇，舌，唾液，歯肉，歯と義歯の口腔内画像を用い，OAGのスコアを診断する畳み込みニューラルネットワーク（Convolutional Neural Network: CNNまたはConvNet）を構築することである．本研究では，高齢者の口腔内の写真を収集し、収集した画像を用いてCNNモデルを構築し，モデルの適合性を確認することであった．１．データベースについては，すでにあるデータベースの基本属性等の項目の点検し改修した．２．歯科クリニックにある既存の画像を収集し、第１次モデルCNNを作成した．３．第１次モデルCNNを使用したアプリ開発を試みた．４．第１次モデルCNNは、歯科に通院できる高齢者の画像に限定されたため、画像の収集に偏りが出たため、病院や施設にいる人の画像が必要であった．次に病院や施設の画像を取集開始した．COVID-19流行下にあって依頼した施設も業務多忙であったため、画像の収集がなかなかできなかった．収集された画像については、第2次モデルCNN用に分類中である．５．特許を出願中である．６．2022年度大学見本市～イノベーション・ジャパンに参加し、第１次モデルCNNを使って臨床活用に結びつく企業探しをしたが、見つからなかった．
