英文摘要
In cooperation with the departments of Ancient History and Classical Archaeology, this project will investigate how heroes and heroizations came into play in visual and textual media in the cultural and political practices of the Imperium Romanum and the kingdoms of the post-Roman world between the late 1st century BC and the 6th/7th century AD. The main focus is on determining the ways in which heroic attraction and 'political myths' constructed around hero and ruler figures served to create cohesion, constitute identity, and aggravate conflicts under changing political conditions in the Imperium Romanum with its imperially interconnected realms of experience.
