感染症と戦争の影響により、研究の方向性を調整し、現在は論文の執筆を行なっている最中である。具体的には、①一般に、租界、居留地等の条約開港都市では、洋行（商館）等の近代施設は、河川に面して立地していることに対し、天津では、それらが Victoria Road （現・解放北路）に面して立地してしれいる理由について。これは現在論文の執筆中であり、『Planning Perspectives』への投稿を予定している。②オーストリア・ハンガリー租界に関する史料を発見し、ロシア系に代わり、オーストリア系及びドイツ系建築家の活動を把握できる可能性があることがわかった。③現在、天津の都市計画家にも視点を広げ、彼らのプロフィールと都市設計手法を精査している。これまで、天津の英租界を総合的に計画したのはH. McClure Andersonというイギリス人技術者であったことはわかっている。彼の計画には次の５つの意図があった。I.　他租界や周辺の地域一般からの交通アクセスの確保。II. 日照と通風の確保。Ⅲ． 十分な排水設備を備え、洪水から安全を確保する。IV. 必要に応じて道路の幅を調節する。オープンスペースと公園を十分供給すること。V. 正しい道路境界線を決める。建築物群に比較的広い空間を与え、建築設計において表現する機会を与える。ところが、この設計図を見ると、同心円状と放射線状に広がる道路網の計画は、田園都市論を彷彿とさせる物である。当時は世界的に田園都市運動の影響があった時代ではあるが、H. McClure AndersonはGarden City については一言も触れていない。 しかし、当時の中国の他の地域でも、同様な計画があった痕跡はある。現在では、このことも念頭におきながら、H. McClure Andersonや他の建築家の設計意図を解明していきたい。
