2021年度は、コロナ禍により引き続き調査実施依頼が難航したため、これまで実施してきた世代継承性自体や関連する概念について文献の収集ならびにレビューの統合を行った。2019年度は看護学の範疇を中心に、2020年度は生涯発達心理学や経営学の分野をレビューした。現時点では生涯発達心理学の領域では多く取り組まれているものの、職業に関連した領域ではそれほど深められた概念であるとは言い難い状況であった。うち、特定の職人の師弟関係や技芸を修める少人数関係においては、現地での調査を経て成果が明らかになってきている。また、企業における組織人のキャリアにおける世代継承性についても既に論考が始まり量的調査もなされている。そこでは、世代継承性そのものだけでなく、アイデンティティ、創造性、親密性といった主要な概念との関連とも合わせて調査や議論がなされていた。また、世代を超越した継承という長期的な時間幅を扱う概念であることから、時間的展望に関する知見を、世代を継承する個人ならびに所属する組織や社会に照らして適切に検討し、調査に組み込むこととした。特に看護職の場合、（１）組織に雇用される職業、（２）職務の内容に固有の専門性が伴う専門家、（３）他の職業集団とチームを形成しながら対象に働きかける職業といった、特有の特徴を伴っていることから、組織に雇用される専門職業人の世代継承性について調査の設計を実施した。ただし、新型コロナウイルス感染症という世界的な感染症の流行による社会情勢の急激な変化が継続して生じていることから、当初に予定していた対面によるインタビューによる調査から代替的な調査方法へと変更する必要があった。
