2022年3月より2023年3月まで、ベトナム・ハノイに滞在し、ベトナム社会科学院宗教研究院の客員研究員として、同研究院の支援を得て在外研究を行った。滞在中の主な研究活動は、国家図書館や漢喃研究院、社会科学院図書館等の研究機関に所蔵された仏教関係史料や碑文拓本の調査・収集と、ハノイ市及びバクニン省・バクザン省・ハイズオン省・ハイフォン市等の紅河デルタ地域（ベトナム北部）の寺廟の実地調査である。また、上記の研究成果として、「福田安禅撰『大南禅苑継灯略録』より見る十八‐十九世紀北部ベトナムの仏教教団」（口頭発表）及び「阮朝初期におけるベトナム北部の仏教教団―福田和尚安禅の仏書刊行と教化活動―」（論文、既刊）を報告した。これらの報告では、従来日本の学術界ではほとんど知られてこなかった、福田和尚安禅（1784～1863）の行跡を中心に、現代に継承されるベトナム仏教の再構築が図られた時代である18～19世紀北部ベトナムの仏教教団の活動を考察した。福田は、阮朝初期の北部ベトナムの仏教界において主導的な役割を果たした高僧であり、諸寺院で住持をつとめる傍ら、多くの典籍、とりわけ仏教史書の刊行に尽力した。このような福田の活動を支援していたのは、阮朝初期にベトナム北部に赴任し、戦乱の続いた地域の安定に尽力した大臣、阮登楷（？～1854）であった。福田は、阮登楷が赴任した地域の寺院に招かれ、教化活動に従事していた。福田と阮登楷の事例から、阮朝初期のベトナム北部では、後黎末期以来の戦乱からの復興の過程において、地方官たちと仏教界が密に連携しており、仏教教団が阮朝の初期統治体制の確立に一定の役割を果たしていたことを明らかにした。
