项目摘要

本共同研究は、12世紀、平泉と周辺地域における仏教文化の展開と、その社会的基盤の様相について、歴史学（文献史学）・考古学・宗教史学・美術史学各分野の研究者が協同し、文献・考古資料（遺構・遺物）・石造物等の調査・集成を進め、中世初期東北・北海道地域史に関する新しい歴史像の提示を目的としている。研究活動の方法について、文献班・考古班・石造物班の三つのグループを組織し、各班が設定したテーマについて調査・分析を進め、それぞれの成果を集成し、総合的な考察を行うという体制をつくった。しかし、2021～22年度の活動もまた、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大状況により、現地調査等のスケジュールについて、しばしば変更をせざるを得ない状況となった。当初計画した内容を修正し、各班はその時その時の状況に応じて作業ができる調査活動を選択し、資料収集とその分析を進めた。各班の作業内容・成果は、次の通りである。【文献班】「中尊寺文書」の翻刻作業を進めた。また、京都国立博物館において観心寺（大阪府河内長野市）所蔵中尊寺経の現物を調査し、調書の作成を行った。静岡市立芹沢銈介美術館所蔵中尊寺参詣曼荼羅の現物を調査し、従来の研究成果に学びつつ新たな知見を得た。【考古班】前年度からの継続事業として、静岡県熱海市の伊豆走湯山遺跡群出土資料の整理・分析作業を進めた。また、平泉町毛越地区において経塚遺跡の発掘調査を行った。【石造物班】福島県いわき市の木製五輪塔、鎌倉市の木製五輪塔・中世石造物を調査し、平泉型石塔との比較研究を進めた。
