项目摘要

本研究は、フランスにおける史料調査を積み重ね、幅広く網羅的な史料読解を行うことで、17世紀イングランドの歴史がフランスでどのように受容され、フランス革命とナポレオンの時代の歴史的展開にどのような機能を果たしたのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。本年度（2021-22年度）前半は、昨年度（2020-2021年度）実施できず延期していたフランスでの史料調査を予定していたが、新型コロナウイルス感染症の蔓延のため実施できなかった。ようやく2021年8月にワクチン接種を受け、秋からフランス社会科学高等研究院日仏財団の訪問研究員として渡仏し、本格的な史料調査に着手できたが、オミクロン株出現に伴うかつてない規模の感染爆発のため年始に一時帰国せざるを得ず、また複数回にわたって隔離期間を過ごした。このように、本年度も新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響を大きく受けた一年となった。以上の制約から、当初予定していたような網羅的な史料読解は完了しておらず、研究課題に対する最終的な結論を出す段階には至っていない。しかし、フランス革命期・ナポレオン統治期に出版された史料から1660年のイングランド王政復古や1688年の名誉革命への言及をかなり収集でき、現在ピューリタン革命への言及との比較を進めている。また、報告者はこれまでフランス革命期を重点的に考察してきたが、ナポレオン・ボナパルトとオリヴァー・クロムウェルおよびジョージ・マンクの比較言説を多く発見できたほか、ナポレオン自身のイングランド史認識についても大きなテーマとして浮かび上がってきた。2021年12月にはフランス革命研究会においてこれまでの研究成果を報告した。また研究以外でも、ナポレオン没後200年を振り返る小文の寄稿やナポレオン時代の政治史を主題とする専門書の書評執筆など、幅広い学術活動を行った。
