2021年度は、引き続きフィールド調査が難しいため、文献・資料調査及び投稿論文の執筆を中心に行った。このなかでまず査読が完了した投稿論文は、2020年度の日本南アジア学会での発表と質疑応答を経てより議論を精査したものである。タイトルは「継承される多様な信仰と問われる帰属―インド・マハーラーシュトラ州における異宗教間結婚の家族の事例から―」で、『マハーラーシュトラ』第14号に掲載される予定である。この論文における査読者とのやり取りを通し、「改宗」がインド社会において持つ意味についてや、宗教間の「境界」が徐々に形作られていったことに関する議論が不足していることを認識し、次の論文では「改宗」という問題を中心に議論する必要があると考えた。そこで、２本目の論文の執筆にとりかかり、「創造されるヒンドゥー女性の「被害者」像―SNS上における「反イスラーム宣伝」に着目して―（仮）」というタイトルで、目下執筆をつづけている。具体的には、インドにおける「改宗」の実態や、イスラームへの改宗を阻止する反改宗運動、そしてヒンドゥー教への再改宗運動などの政治的な動きについて踏まえた上で、現代のTwitterなどのソーシャル・ネットワーキング・サービス（SNS）上におけるヒンドゥー至上主義者の動向に着目し、結婚と改宗をめぐる「ムスリム男性の加害者」と「ヒンドゥー女性の被害者」という構造が生み出されている現代的様相について、政治学的視点を踏まえて論じている。さらに、当論文及び既出の論文を総括し、博士論文の執筆にも着手した。まだ不足するデータがあるため、引き続き国内での文献調査及びオンライン・インタビュー調査を経て、博士論文を2024年度に提出することを目標にしている。
