今年度も新型コロナ感染症の蔓延により2年連続の縮小開催となった祇園祭山鉾行事に五山送り火行事も新たな対象に加え調査を行った。電話・メール等の非対面式調査法も活用してコロナ禍2年目の準備状況について聞き取りを行い、関係者了承のもと、感染症対策を徹底の上、準備から片付まで「関係者」の一員として参与し、写真・動画等の観察記録を収集した。前年度は感染症対策のため断念した対面でのライフヒストリー聞き取りや対象者所有の史資料整理を短時間ずつ複数回に分け行った。10月のコミュニティ政策学会大会にて「コロナ禍の都市祭礼―京都祇園祭山鉾行事を事例に」と題しコロナ前・コロナ禍1年目・同2年目の実施状況の比較報告を行った。密集・密接の回避が求められ、コロナ前のような非住民＝「よそ者」の大規模参集が見送られる中、1年目は新住民＝「新参者」重視につながったのに対し、2年目は旧住民＝「町衆」の跡継世代重視につながったことを、コロナ前より両者の受け入れを段階的に進めた成果であると分析した。3月には、そのコロナ前からの経緯について当時の記録と旧住民・新住民の記憶・経験談を組み合わせる形で「人口の都心回帰期における祇園祭運営に見る町自治―「菊水鉾町町会会規約」の制定と運用を事例に」と題した論文を発表した。新住民の急増＝「都心回帰」以降、祇園祭への参加を拒む新住民や新住民よりも前から祇園祭に関わってきた非住民の考えにも配慮しながら、旧住民の跡継世代や祇園祭への参加を希望する新住民の思いに応じ、祇園祭運営が行われてきたことを明らかにした。また、「コロナ禍に大文字送り火を継承する「祭縁」」と題した調査報告書を監修し、実施に必要な地域内外のつながり＝「祭縁」がコロナ前後でどうなったのかを分析した。完全に断たれた「祭縁」は少なく、跡継世代の意欲の高まりにより旧住民の世代間のつながりが強化されたことを明らかにした。
