项目摘要

本年度はナバレーテによる学院聖具室祭壇画連作（1575年）とヒエロニムス修道会の無原罪の聖母崇敬との関連について調査を行った。ローマ・カトリック教会では1568年にドミニコ会出身の教皇ピウス5世によって教会暦の改革が行われ、無原罪の祝日は降誕の祝日に名称が変更された。だが、同時期に注文・制作されたナバレーテによる学院聖具室祭壇画には、その主題選択に無原罪崇敬との関連が指摘できるのである。この点について申請者は伝統的に無原罪崇敬を擁護してきたグアダルーペ王立修道院出身の修道院長エルナンド・シウダード・レアルがその制作に関与していた可能性、また1570年にスペインに輿入れした王妃アナ・デ・アウストリアによる無原罪信仰との関連を新たに指摘した。特にこの王妃アナの無原罪信仰については、近年、近世スペインにおける無原罪の御宿り信仰についてジェンダー的観点から考察を加えたロジリー・へルナンデスが、この時代のハプスブルク家に見られる無原罪信仰が、スペイン王家の特に女性によって支えられていたことを明らかにしており注目に値する。この議論を踏まえて申請者は、その信仰の中心地となったデスカルサス・レアレス女子修道院（マドリード）の創建者であり、王妃アナのスペインでの後見人であったフアナ・デ・アウストリアが無原罪への信仰を持っていたこと、さらに王妃アナがエル・エスコリアル修道院でフランシスコ会士の聴罪司祭に告解を行っていたことを指摘した上で、エル・エスコリアル修道院に所蔵されるルカ・カンビアーゾ作《聖アンナへのお告げ》（1583年）やミヒール・コクシー作〈贖罪の二連画〉（1586年にエル・エスコリアルへ譲渡）を例に、この王妃の無原罪信仰とエル・エスコリアル修道院の装飾との関連を考察した。この成果は9月に開催されたスペイン史学会夏期研究会にて報告を行った。
