本研究の目的は，判断行動における個人差・集団差の理解のための認知モデルやその関連技術を開発し，それらの性能を評価すること，および実際の分析例を提示することである。心理測定・個人差研究の分野で発展してきた測定モデルである項目反応モデル（Item Response Model, IRM）について，新たな応用文脈の発見や新たなモデルのインスタンスの提案およびその推定のうえでの要素技術の開発といった応用的側面・技術的側面を中心に研究を展開した昨年度までの流れを引き継ぎつつも，今年度はその一歩手前で，IRMの数学的構造を記述する統一的な枠組みはこれまでいくつか提案されているにもかかわらず，近年ますます多様化するその応用の側の裾野の広さを記述するための枠組みが決定的に欠如しているとの問題意識に基づき，項目や個人という語の経験的意味に依らないアプリオリな2種類の応用の形式を認識するに至り，こうした応用の2分類に基づき既存のIRMの数学的構造と応用文脈についての整理を行った。モデルの数学的構造と応用文脈を整理する枠組みを検討するうえで，並行して進めていた，緩やかな意味では同じく判断行動を扱う数理モデルである意思決定モデルの記述の研究からも示唆を得た。意思決定モデルでは，二肢選択課題といったタスクを共通に固定してそのドメイン内での使用／機能の様態の記述というものを考えることができるが，IRMにおいては少なくとも意思決定モデルと同じ意味では共通のタスクというものが固定されていないため，応用文脈をいかに分類するかという問題が生じるのである。
