项目摘要

2022年度は、新型コロナウイルス感染状況の改善によって、本来の研究計画に則った海外調査を行うことができた。さらに研究成果の報告と研究交流の一環として、ワークショップを開催することができた。（１）具体的内容2022年8月にマレーシア西沿岸部の華人コミュニティにおける民衆宗教調査を行った。マラッカ、サバク、ペラ、イポー及びペナンの聖教会（清代中国の青蓮教系民間教団の後裔）を訪問し、宗教儀礼を見学、信徒へのインタビューとともに宗教文献を収集した。マレーシアにおける多宗教的文化共生社会における伝統中国的民衆宗教との融合という点から、信徒らの華人に限定しない宗教活動、教義の受容の変化といった点を窺い知ることができた。その際に、聖教会と同様に20世紀初頭に中国から伝わった青蓮教系教団の一つである帰根門の現地活動を伝える史料を得ることができた。2022年11月に日本道教学会にて当該調査の報告を行った。また、国内外の研究領域の近い研究者をお招きし、2023年3月に成蹊大学においてワークショップを開催した。中国民衆宗教をめぐる研究動向や関心についての情報を共有することができた。この議論に基づいて、来年度までに論文集による発表を予定している。（２）意義本年度の調査は、英領マラヤ時期の華人民衆宗教のあり方を明らかにするものである。また、本科研初の調査でありながら、これまで数年かけて行ったパイロット調査を踏まえ、マレーシア華人社会の全面的なエリアを視野に入れて把握することができた。現在、聖教会自体が制度上の欠陥による後継者問題を抱えるため、その宗教伝統が失われる可能性が極めて高い。華人文化と民衆宗教を通じた現地との融合と交流という歴史について、宗教文献を通じてその痕跡を記録する重要性は非常に大きいと言える。
