项目摘要

昨年同様に、新型コロナウィルス（COVID-19）感染症の影響による出張制限（勤務校、及び受入れ先の海外機関によるもの）があったため、想定していた新規史料調査の計画は断念せざるを得なかった。よって本年度も占領史・近代宗教史に関連した研究書や、テーマを分析するうえで必要となる刊行資料の収集、これまでの調査活動で集めたGHQ/SCAP文書を改めて読み直すことなどが研究活動の中心となった。これにより、本テーマを研究する上で参考となる知見や問題視角、関連する先行研究上の論点などについて理解を深めることができ、さらに、これまでの研究成果に追加すべき内容を見出すことができた。他の科研費プロジェクト（「昭和10年代文部省の機関哲学と國體明徴政策の相互制約関係についての研究」課題番号：22K01347、研究代表者：植村和秀）から研究報告の依頼を受け、占領下において文部省宗務課の果たした役割と戦前戦後の連続・非連続性について、同課に勤務した人物（課長・行政官・事務官・嘱託・雇）の経歴や著作を分析しながら発表した。その際に、占領軍側で宗教政策を担った民間情報教育局（CIE）「宗教課」の組織や人事についても触れ、日本宗教を理解する任務に就いた占領軍スタッフや、それを支えたGHQに雇われた日本人スタッフについて、それぞれの役割や経歴など、今回の研究で新たに判明したことを交えて報告した。
