本科研期間中はコロナ禍に見舞われたことで資料収集や対面研究会に大幅な制限がかかった。さらに研究代表者が令和3年度末にご逝去されたため、当初予定した課題を完全には遂行きなかったことは否めない。しかし、研究代表者および分担者の尽力により、限られた条件のなかでも重要な成果を収めることができた。なかでも特筆すべきは、吉永の単著『神智学と仏教』および莊千慧編(岡本佳子共編)『神智学とアジア(仮題)』の刊行である。前者は神智学運動が近代仏教に及ぼした影響を、後者はそれがアジアの近代に及ぼした影響を検討し、従来は好事家的対象または断片的研究にとどまっていた神智学運動を近代宗教史・アジア史に学術的かつ主題的に位置づけた。これらによって日本の神智学研究は重要な一歩を踏み出したと言える。こうした進展を補完するべく、個別の研究も進められた。大澤絢子によって日本の神智学運動のキーパーソンである三浦関造の伝記的研究が、また栗田英彦とヤニス・ガイタニディスによって戦後オカルティズムの先駆的雑誌『日本神学』の研究が進められ、研究発表が行われた。これらについては今後の論文化が課題である。さらにガイタニディスは、オカルティズムの展開としての戦後スピリチュアリティの研究を精力的に進め、国内外の学会で発表、論文化を行った。大道晴香は大衆文化・大衆小説の領域におけるオカルティズムの展開について、積極的に学会発表や論文執筆を行った。さらに現代社会情勢に応答し、吉永と栗田は『現代思想』の陰謀論特集に寄稿、近現代オカルティズム史に陰謀論を位置づけた。また全体として、国際共著1件を含む4件の英語論文の発表、3冊の英文論文集への寄稿、1冊の英文単著の刊行、5件の国際学会発表が行われ、本科研の成果は十分に国際的に公表することができたと言えよう。本科研によって着実に戦後オカルティズム史・戦後宗教史が刷新されつつあり、分担研究者を含む後続の研究者が引き継ぐべき基礎的な成果を収めることができた。

In response to the modern social situation, Yoshinaga and Kurita sent a special collection of conspiracy theories for "Modern Thought," and placed conspiracy theories in the history of modern times. All of them are published internationally, including 1 English paper, 3 English papers, 1 English paper, 5 international academic papers, and the results of this research are published internationally. This scientific research is aimed at updating the history of religion and sharing the achievements of researchers, including those of later generations.
