2022年度は、『無名草子』の読み直しを進める過程で、かねてより課題意識を持ち続けてきた、複数の女院たちの動向の整理と文化的事象への関与の一端の解明、藤原隆信が表舞台に登場する時期の文学的環境について見直しを行うことに重点を置いて資料を読み、考察を深めた。まず、従来知られてきた先行研究について、主要な研究論文の読み直しを進めた。そして、近年飛躍的に研究が進み、新たに発表された歴史学研究の成果に広く目を向け、建春門院、八条院、皇嘉門院に関わる論考を収集した。あわせて、最近の日本文学研究の成果にも注目して時代の状況を見直すことに努めた。建春門院、八条院についてはその動向の特徴が早くから知られてきたが、それのみならず皇嘉門院についても、当該時代にあって、九条家との関わりにおいて存在感を示していたことを見いだせたことから、時代の様相がより明確に記述できるようになったと考えている。次いで、新たな知見と歴史学、文学研究の深化を踏まえて、『玉葉』の読み直しをすすめた。『玉葉』の記事については、藤原俊成の研究に関わる形で隆信の動きも知られていたところであるが、兼実と俊成の最初の出会いの橋渡し役を務めたころから頻繁に名前が見られることから、再整理の必要があるという認識を持つに至った。隆信が兼実周辺でどのような動きをしていたかを引き続き整理することによって、12世紀最末期から13世紀初頭の、本研究において中世王朝物語の「始発期」と名付けた時期の文化的環境について考えを深めていきたい。なお、中世王朝物語研究会は、2022年度もオンライン開催であったが、最先端の研究発表を聴き、多くの知見と示唆を得たことを付言しておく。
